LIVERPOOL, England, Jan 12 (Reuters) - Dominik Szoboszlai scored a stunner and gave away a howler as Liverpool beat third-tier Barnsley 4-1 on Monday to set up a home FA Cup fourth round clash with Premier League rivals Brighton & Hove Albion.
AFTER years of delay, the Perigi Acheh replacement bridge project in Pasir Gudang , Johor, is going forward with work expected to start early this year. Pasir Gudang mayor Datin Paduka Hazlina Jalil said she visited the site in Kampung Perigi Acheh last December.
“Physical work is expected to kick off in early 2026,” she said at Pasir Gudang City Council’s full board meeting. She said it was important for the project to adhere strictly to technical specifications and be completed on time. “Proper execution is crucial to ensure improved access and safety for residents who have been affected by the prolonged delay.” MBPG would continue to play its role in monitoring and coordinating the project, as well as providing necessary support to ensure work went according to schedule, the mayor said. The 85m-long bridge to replace the old span, which was damaged during a flood in 2016, had faced setbacks since 2019. The RM14mil project, which also involves road upgrades by Johor JKR, was originally scheduled to be completed by 2024. However, it was delayed by the movement restrictions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic besides the collapse of a utility bridge in 2023. Following this, the state government decided that the utility bridge and related utility lines would be relocated. In October 2023, Johor works, transport, infrastructure and communications committee chairman Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh instructed JKR to restructure the project with consultants and contractors, to ensure it could proceed safely and smoothly.
