Flood Victims in Malaysia Rise as New Districts Hit

The number of flood victims in temporary relief centers has increased in Johor, Sarawak, and Sabah, Malaysia. Johor, the latest state to be affected, reported 372 evacuees. Sarawak continues to be severely hit, with 5,384 people displaced. In Sabah, Keningau and Kinabatangan have become the latest districts to experience flooding.

KUALA LUMPUR: The number of flood victims placed in temporary relief centres in Johor , Sarawak , and Sabah has increased as of 8am on Thursday compared to Wednesday .

State Disaster Management Committee chairman Tan Sri Dr Azmi Rohani stated that all victims are housed in three PPS in the Kota Tinggi district: Dewan Muafakat Taman Desaru Utama with 172 people, Dewan Kampung Baru Sungai Mas , and Sekolah Kebangsaan Bandar Penawar . Sarawak remains severely affected, with an increase in evacuees at 30 PPS to 5,384 from 5,125 last night, following days of decline.

"The number of evacuees in Bintulu Division slightly decreased to 1,864 from 1,865 people, as did Miri Division, which reduced to 1,184 from 1,217 people, while the numbers in Serian , Samarahan , and Sarikei remain the same," it said.
