The flood situation in Malaysia continues to evolve, with Sarawak registering a decrease in the number of flood victims but still exceeding 12,000, while Sabah reported an increase in evacuees.
The number of flood victims in Sarawak has decreased but still exceeds 12,000 people this morning, while Sabah has recorded an increase in the number of people evacuated to temporary relief centers (TRCs) compared to last night. In SARAWAK , as many as 12,116 victims are still placed in 62 TRCs as of 8 am today with six divisions affected, compared to 12,423 victims last night.
According to the Secretariat of the State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) Sarawak, the number of evacuees in the Bintulu Division (involving the districts of Bintulu, Tatau and Sebauh) is 5,184 people and Serian (districts of Serian, Siburan and Balai Ringin) a total of 2,617 victims; The Samarahan Division (districts of Samarahan, Asajaya, Sebuyau, Simunjan and Gedong) recorded 1,926 victims; The Sibu Division (districts of Sibu, Selangau and Kanowit) 1,189 victims; The Miri Division (districts of Miri, Subis and Beluru) recorded 1,138 people; while the Mukah Division (districts of Mukah and Matu) recorded 62 people. In SABAH, the number of flood victims has slightly increased to 1,651 people from 537 families at 8 am today, compared to 1,485 people from 493 families last night. The Secretariat of JPBN Sabah reported that the Tongod district, which recovered yesterday evening, was once again flooded with two TRCs opened, bringing the number of affected districts to five. Pitas remains the district with the highest number of victims at 819 people (301 families), followed by Lahad Datu with 520 victims (140 families), Tongod with 155 victims (41 families), Beaufort with 110 victims (32 families) and Paitan with 47 victims (23 families)
