Residents affected by the Petaling Jaya Dispersal Link (PJD Link) Expressway project are seeking clarity from the Selangor Mentri Besar regarding the project's revival.

Residents affected by the Petaling Jaya Dispersal Link (PJD Link) Expressway project are seeking a meeting with Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, the Selangor Mentri Besar, to gain clarity on the project's revival. The residents, represented by Stakeholders cum Residents Against PJD Link (ScRAP) spokesman David Yoong, express their desire for a meeting to address their concerns about the project's details and the circumstances surrounding its reinstatement.

They remain in the dark about the project's current alignment, whether it's the original alignment with amendments or a completely new one. ScRAP, along with the Sustainable Petaling Jaya Association (SPJA) and affected residents, learned about PJD Link's revival through a press conference by Petaling Jaya MP Lee Chean Chung in November last year. Lee revealed that a Cabinet meeting had agreed to allow PJD Link (M) Sdn Bhd to present a counter-proposal for a new highway alignment on May 8, 2024. The ball is now in the court of the state government to decide on the project's implementation. Lee emphasized that any attempt to secure approval through minor amendments would be disrespectful to policymakers and the public. PJD Link, a proposed 25.4km dual-lane elevated expressway connecting Damansara to Bandar Kinrara in Selangor, was initially announced to be canceled by Amirudin in July 2023, citing the project's failure to meet the set conditions. Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil further confirmed the project's discontinuation in April 2024, stating that its developer had not fulfilled six out of eleven conditions imposed by the government. However, in July 2024, Selangor infrastructure and agriculture committee chairman Izham Hashim announced during the state assembly sitting that PJD Link was among seven highways under consideration in the state. Meanwhile, SPJA assistant secretary Parimala Nesamany expressed hope that the High Court would soon deliver a decision on a judicial review application filed by four residents - three from Petaling Jaya and one from Kinrara - regarding PJD Link. These residents sought access to various documents and reports conducted by the project's developer and its consultant, encompassing environmental, social, and traffic impact assessments, as well as focus group discussion reports. Parimala stated that the case, initially filed on June 7, 2023, saw the exchange and submission of affidavits between 2023 and 2024. A decision, initially scheduled for October 2024, was postponed to January 13th and subsequently to March 26th. The group anticipates a decision next month, marking almost two years since the case's commencement.Parimala also announced a town hall meeting scheduled for February 15th at 10 am at Brickfields Asia College, Petaling Jaya, to update the public on the project. The meeting invites the developer, their consultants, relevant government ministries and agencies, and elected representatives. Taman Kinrara 7 resident Dhanaraj Arumugam, also the spokesman for Gerakan Menentang Penilaian Impak Tebuk Atap (Gempita), stated that residents in Kinrara and Puchong oppose PJD Link due to its anticipated negative impact on traffic, the local economy, and the environment. Dhanaraj expressed disappointment that some politicians claimed Kinrara residents supported the project, while he and his neighbors strongly disagreed. Gempita plans to organize a protest on February 22nd at 9 am near Jalan TK 7/1, which falls within the project's alignment, to reiterate their objections.
