TikTok got an apparent reprieve from being forced to shut down, but Americans on Jan 20 were still using and downloading Xiaohongshu, the Chinese social media app that surged in popularity last week in anticipation of TikTok’s closure.
GEORGE TOWN: A 17-year-old boy was killed on the spot in an accident early Tuesday morning that police believe is linked to illegal racing.
Balik Pulau OCPD Asst Comm Sazalee Adam said the accident occurred around 4.30am on Monday along the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway. "We received a phone call from the public to report a fatal accident involving a male victim on the expressway near the Keysight Factory from George Town heading towards Batu Maung.
"Preliminary investigation at the scene found that the accident happened while the victim, a student of SMK Sungai Nibong, was riding a motorcycle when the crash occurred in front of the factory.ACP Sazalee said the number of vehicles involved and the cause of the accident is still being investigated."We believe the victim's friend, a suspect in the incident, was also racing at the time.
