The opening of Section 2 of the West Coast Expressway (WCE) provides a significant boost to connectivity and economic growth in the western corridor of Peninsular Malaysia. This 7.2 km stretch connects the South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE) to the Shah Alam Expressway (SAE) and offers motorists a faster and more convenient route to key destinations.

West Coast Expressway Section 2 Opens to Public, Enhancing Connectivity and Economic Growth\The second section of the West Coast Expressway ( WCE ) officially opened to the public on Wednesday, January 22nd, at 12:01 am. This 7.2 km stretch connects the South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE) elevated interchange to the Shah Alam Expressway (SAE) elevated interchange, providing direct access to Port Klang.

This opening follows the completion of Section 1, which connected the Banting interchange to the SKVE interchange on August 30th, 2022.\The new section offers motorists a convenient alternative route from Banting to Shah Alam, Klang, Putrajaya, Kajang, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), and vice versa. It seamlessly connects to the SKVE and the KESAS Highway, significantly reducing travel times. The Works Minister, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, announced that users of Section 2 will enjoy toll-free travel when entering from the SAE toll plaza to the SKVE elevated interchange for a month. This initiative aims to encourage public usage and familiarize drivers with the new route.\Nanta highlighted the substantial impact of this section on both local mobility and economic growth. He stated that the journey from Shah Alam to Banting or KLIA will be significantly expedited compared to existing routes. The minister also emphasized the potential for reduced operating costs in the logistics sector, facilitated delivery of goods, and increased competitiveness on the international stage. The WCE, upon full completion, is projected to be a key driver of development and economic growth, particularly in the western corridor of Peninsular Malaysia. The highway is also expected to bolster domestic tourism and alleviate congestion on highways from the Klang Valley to the north of the peninsula
