The Malaysian government will continue offering 50% discounts on tolls during major festive seasons throughout 2025. Works Minister Alexander Nanta Linggi announced the policy during a visit to the Federal Route FT05 Sungai Besar – Sabak Bernam. While the discount applies only to Class 1 vehicles and is estimated to cost the government RM20 million, it remains unclear if this targeted approach will replace previous toll-free travel policies.
The government will continue to implement 50% discounts on tolls during festive seasons throughout this year. The new policy was revealed by the Works Minister, Alexander Nanta Linggi during a working visit to the Federal Route FT05 Sungai Besar – Sabak Bernam earlier today.. but did not reveal any details at that time. Naturally, the new policy will significantly reduce the amount of payment that the government has to pay to the toll concessionaires. Last year, the government had to fork out over RM200 million in order to implement toll-free travel during Chinese New Year, Hair Raya Aidilfitri, Deepavali, and Christmas.
