Highway users in Malaysia will enjoy a 50% discount on tolls nationwide from January 27th to midnight on January 28th, coinciding with the Chinese New Year celebrations. The discount applies to Class One personal vehicles at all toll plazas, excluding those at national borders. This initiative is a continuation of the government's efforts to provide festive season toll assistance and comes as part of a final year of blanket exemptions before a more targeted approach is implemented in 2024.
PETALING JAYA: Highway users will benefit from a 50% toll discount nationwide from Jan 27 until midnight on January 28, in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebrations.
Since 2023, the government has spent a total of RM356.18mil as compensation for the Festive Season free toll initiative. Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, indicated that, similar to previous subsidy adjustments, toll exemptions should be provided only to the B40 and M40 groups, not to everyone.
