A recent incident in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya, Malaysia, saw two individuals apprehended by the Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) for releasing three pythons into a drain. The incident follows reports of another python bite in Ampang and the capture of 29 pythons from a drainage ditch in Shah Alam.

A recent incident in Ampang, Malaysia, has brought the issue of dangerous wild animals in urban areas to light. A young child suffered injuries after being bitten by a reticulated python hiding in a toilet bowl. This incident follows reports of 29 pythons being captured from a drainage ditch in Shah Alam, raising concerns about the increasing presence of these snakes in populated areas.

\Adding to the unease, videos circulating on social media show two individuals releasing three snakes, believed to be pythons, into a drain in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya. The individuals, clad in red shirts, are seen carrying three sacks, each suspected to contain a python, and dumping them into the drain from a parked white Alphard. A woman recording the incident can be heard questioning their actions. \Following the viral videos, the individuals were apprehended by the Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan) for questioning regarding illegal python possession. A search of their residence led to the discovery of a live reticulated python, but the suspects failed to provide any legal documentation of ownership. The suspects, aged 53 and 35, were arrested under the Wildlife Conservation Act 2010 and released on police bail pending further investigation. The authorities emphasize the dangers of releasing wild animals without proper control, as it poses a risk to public safety and the environment. \Wan Mohd Adib Wan Mohd Yusoh, the Director of Perhilitan Selangor, urges the public to report any sightings of wild animals in residential areas to the Wildlife Department hotline at 1-800-88-5151 or through the e-Aduan portal at www.wildlife.gov.my. He advises against attempting to handle wild animals independently and instead encourages the public to remain vigilant and contact authorities for assistance
