Police apprehended two men, including one with a history of 20 previous criminal records, following a housebreaking incident in Taman Skudai Baru, Johor Baru.

Two men, including one with 20 previous criminal records, were apprehended less than 24 hours after perpetrating a housebreaking in Taman Skudai Baru, Johor Baru , on Tuesday. Johor Baru North police chief Assistant Commissioner Balveer Singh Mahindar Singh revealed that police initiated an investigation immediately following a report filed by the 28-year-old victim, who works in Singapore, at 10.33 am.

The victim, who was at home during the pre-dawn incident, was unaware that his house had been burglarized. Upon discovering a missing laptop, mobile phone, gold bracelet, and two helmets, he subsequently lodged a police report. Balveer Singh explained that the investigation determined the grill door of the victim's house had been damaged, and the front door forced open. Examination of closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage revealed that at 5.45 am, a masked individual clad in an orange shirt and gloves broke into the residence, searching for valuables. Acting on intelligence, police successfully identified and arrested two local men, aged 22 and 27, in the Larkin area near the city center at 11.30 pm on the same day. During a subsequent raid on a premises, police recovered the stolen laptop, the suspects' car, a crossbody bag, a watch, a pair of earrings, and a wooden bracelet. Both suspects tested positive for methamphetamine abuse in a drug test. The 22-year-old suspect also had 20 prior convictions for drug and criminal offenses. Balveer Singh stated that police are actively investigating the possibility of additional accomplices. He added that the suspects' modus operandi involves damaging locks and main fences of targeted houses, often selecting those that are long vacant or whose owners are employed in Singapore. The arrest of these two suspects is believed to have solved numerous cases of housebreaking and theft in the Johor Baru North police district since the beginning of the year. The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking and Section 39C(1)(b) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug abuse
