KUALA LUMPUR: A woman and a teenage girl were injured after a tree fell on them near Swiss-Garden Hotel Bukit Bintang in Jalan Pudu this morning.

REMBAU : Three people were killed in a collision involving four vehicles at KM226.5 of the North-South Expressway near here.

Rembau OCPD Supt Shaik Abd Kadar Shaik Mohamed said the accident, which involved a lorry and three cars, took place at around 5.40am yesterday along the northbound stretch of the expressway between Senawang and Ayer Keroh. Those killed were the lorry driver, Mohd Esa Daharin, 73; his attendant MD Usuf Ali, 44, a Bangladeshi; and a passenger of one of the cars, Terence Ng Zhi Yang, 21.“Based on preliminary investigation, the lorry, which was transporting flowers and soil, was heading from Ayer Keroh to Senawang when the lorry driver was believed to have lost control of the vehicle.

“He then crashed into the guardrail on the right side of the expressway and eventually came to a stop on the left lane,” he said in a statement.Supt Shaik Abd Kadar said three cars, which were trailing the lorry, could not stop in time and crashed into it. The lorry driver and his attendant were killed on the spot due to serious head injuries while Ng, an undergraduate, succumbed to his injuries when he was brought to Hospital Rembau for treatment, he added.The case is being investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
