No-fine ‘education’ period for smoking ban extended till year end
A study conducted this month by the National Cancer Society on 173 eateries in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya shows that most people have stopped smoking in the prohibited zones. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, April 25, 2019.
THE no-fine grace period for smokers in relation to the smoking ban in restaurants will be extended until the end of the year, said Health Minister Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad. He said the extension of the period is to allow smokers time to become educated in the dangers of smoking. Effective July 2018, access to full reports will only be available with a subscription.
