Police in Ipoh , Malaysia , have apprehended a 34-year-old man for possessing a collection of weapons, including slingshots resembling rifles and crossbows. Acting Perak police chief Deputy Commissioner Zulkafli Sariaat confirmed the arrest, which took place during a raid at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, February 5th, on Jalan Tambun.
According to Deputy Comm Zulkafli, the police seized seven slingshots that closely resembled rifles, four crossbows, six sets of arrows (with five arrows in each set), 300 ball bearings, and a mobile phone from the suspect's possession. The suspect was subsequently remanded for two days, from February 5th to February 6th, to facilitate the ongoing investigation. Urine tests conducted on the suspect revealed he was negative for drug use and had no prior criminal record. The case is currently under investigation under Section 8(a) of the Arms Act 1960 and Section 7(1)(a) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Dangerous Weapons Act 1958. Deputy Comm Zulkafli emphasized the seriousness of the offense and warned the public against possessing homemade or unlicensed firearms, stating that the police would not tolerate such violations.
