The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested 13 vehicle inspection officers in Kuala Lumpur on suspicion of being involved in a syndicate for heavy vehicle inspection approvals. The suspects, aged between 20 and 40, were arrested at MACC headquarters in Putrajaya while providing evidence. This brings the total number of arrests in the investigation to 22, including 19 vehicle inspection officers, an agent, and two runners. Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects received bribes ranging from RM150 to RM1,500 per month from runners in exchange for approving vehicle inspections. The MACC plans to expand its investigations to include other inspection centers nationwide.
