The Malaysia n Basketball Association ( MABA ) anticipates 2025 to be another stellar year for basketball in Malaysia . Last year witnessed remarkable growth in the sport, marked by the emergence of promising young players and a significant enhancement in the overall strength of the national team. Datuk Seri Lee Tian Hock, President of MABA , emphasized that all these achievements are a testament to the collaborative efforts of everyone dedicated to the advancement of the sport.

'We are not only seeing a steady improvement in the performance of local players, but also a notable surge in achievements on the international stage,' he stated. 'More remarkably, Malaysia has made history by producing the first Asian import player to compete in the East Asia Super League (EASL).' 'On the domestic front, the national league and local tournaments have become increasingly vibrant with intense competition, making basketball a more captivating sport to watch,' he added. 'All this is inseparable from the unwavering support of fans, who remain the backbone of this sport's development,' he further noted. Tian Hock also highlighted the association's commitment to working closely with the 18 affiliated associations to propel basketball development in Malaysia. 'We will remain steadfast in our original objectives, continuing to serve the fans, bringing more high-caliber tournaments, and organizing quality training camps,' he assured. In line with this, Tian Hock outlined the organization's dedication to five key pioneering projects as a stepping stone towards achieving self-sustainability within the sport. 'Let us work together and continue to elevate Malaysian basketball to new heights. Happy Chinese New Year, may this Year of the Snake bring strength and good health to all,' he concluded.
