80 Children of Former GISB Members Unclaimed by Parents

Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, reveals that 80 out of 560 children of former GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH) members remain unclaimed by their parents. While 475 children have been reunited with their families according to Section 30(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, five others have been placed with eligible and suitable persons (OYLS) under the same act. Six children have been ordered by the court to remain in the care of the Social Welfare Department (JKM) for three years due to parental issues.

: Menteri Pembangunan Wanita, Keluarga dan Masyarakat Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri berkata seramai 80 daripada 560 anak-anak bekas anggota GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd belum dituntut ibu bapa mereka.

“Memang kita ada berhubung dengan ibu bapa, ada mempunyai minat untuk menuntut balik anak mereka tetapi atas sebab tidak kita ketahui, ada juga tidak jadi ambil. Beliau berkata daripada 80 kanak-kanak itu juga enam daripada mereka diperintahkan mahkamah untuk terus tinggal di institusi Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat berkenaan selama tiga tahun dan perintah tetap itu dikemukakan mengikut Seksyen 30 Akta Kanak-Kanak 2001.
