The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is investigating a milk powder supplier for alleged price manipulation, monopolization of supply contracts, and supplying substandard products. The company, owned by a family, faces scrutiny for potential tax evasion, corruption, and violation of tender regulations.

The Malaysia n Anti-Corruption Commission ( MACC ) is investigating a milk powder supplying company for suspected manipulation of tender prices, ranging from 10 to 50 percent depending on the zone, along with monopolizing market share in supply contracts with a government department.

According to sources, the company, owned by a married couple with their sons as primary shareholders, is believed to have supplied products worth RM120 million that did not comply with the Standards and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM) standards. The investigation focuses on tax issues, corruption, and monopoly practices within the milk powder tender supply to a government department. MACC is also scrutinizing the company's ownership structure, including the network of other distributors involved in the milk powder supply chain. Sources reveal that 75 accounts have been frozen, encompassing 24 individual accounts and 51 company accounts with a total value of RM174.6 million. Numerous documents related to the milk powder supply contract and financial documents, including mobile phones and laptops, were also seized to facilitate further investigations. To date, 10 witnesses have provided statements to MACC, while another son of the couple owning the company is anticipated to appear at the MACC office next Tuesday or Wednesday. While there have been no new arrests, investigations remain ongoing, extending to the management of the government department directly involved in the milk powder supply contract. Previous media reports indicated that three family members suspected of being the masterminds behind a milk supply tender monopoly for a government department over the past two decades were arrested under Op White last Tuesday. MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki stated that the family was suspected of orchestrating a RM120 million milk powder supply cartel involving a government department. All raided premises were believed to house documents related to milk powder supply contracts since 2019, following an MACC investigation into two owners and a director of a milk powder supplier company suspected of not meeting SIRIM standards. The investigation is being conducted under Section 16 of the MACC Act 2009, alongside identifying criminal elements under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (AMLATFPUAA)
