A 64-year-old woman in Malaysia was arrested for posting a comment on Facebook that allegedly insulted Islam. The comment was made in response to a post by comedian and actor Harith Iskander, who was previously accused of posting content related to the halal status of ham and cheese sandwiches. Police have recorded the woman's statement and seized her mobile phone and SIM card. Investigation papers will be submitted to the Attorney General's Chambers on Tuesday.

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have recorded a statement from the owner of the Cecelia Yap Song KL Facebook page, who posted a comment allegedly insulting Islam , according to Tan Sri Razarudin Husain. The Inspector-General of Police stated that authorities recorded the statement from the 64-year-old woman regarding her comment on a post by comedian and actor Harith Iskander on Facebook .

He further added that the police will submit the investigation papers concerning the post, which is accused of insulting Islam, to the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) on Tuesday (January 28). 'Twenty-one questions were posed to the suspect, a retired nurse, and she admitted to posting the comment,' he said when contacted by Bernama on Monday (January 27). 'The suspect explained that she posted the comment in response to the comedian-cum-actor's post. The police also seized a mobile phone and a SIM card,' he said. The actor was accused of posting the content during the controversy surrounding the halal status of ham and cheese sandwiches. The police received 16 reports about the issue and initiated an investigation under Sections 298 and 505 of the Penal Code, as well as Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. - Bernam
