PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong has questioned if DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang has resubmitted a proposal to the Cabinet to reform the matriculation programme, something he did five years ago.
"Lim said that in 2013, he made a recommendation to the prime minister and the Cabinet that 75% of the seats should be allocated based on student performance while 25% of the seats should be allocated to students from poor families," said the MCA president.
He also included a screenshot photo of Lim's statement dated July 23, 2013, where Lim also proposed a single standard test for all students for public university admission. He also pointed out that when Barisan Nasional was in power, the intake for Indian and Chinese students was raised. Besides providing allowances, Dr Wee said the matriculation programme also provides free accommodation and food.
