PETALING JAYA: Barisan Nasional will wait and see who will contest in the Sandakan by-election before deciding to lend its support, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The MCA president said Barisan decided not to contest because the seat was traditionally contested by a Sabah-based partner.

"However, Barisan will see who the candidates are during nomination before deciding who to support against DAP," he said on Facebook post on Tuesday . On Monday , Barisan deputy chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said the coalition would be sitting out of the parliamentary by-election.The Sandakan by-election is being held following the death of Sabah DAP chairman Datuk Stephan Wong on March 28.
