Police in Selangor, Malaysia have arrested four members of a Vietnamese gang specializing in stealing iPhones from shoppers in shopping malls across the Klang Valley. The gang, led by a 40-year-old Vietnamese woman, used distraction tactics to steal phones from unsuspecting customers before handing them over to an accomplice, a 31-year-old Jordanian man who transported the stolen goods. Thirteen phones, including twelve iPhones, were recovered during the raid. The gang had been active for about a week, targeting shoppers in popular malls across six districts.

Ketua Polis Selangor, Datuk Hussein Omar Khan berkata, operasi itu dijalankan Bahagian Siasatan Jenayah Ibu Pejabat Polis Daerah Serdang, kira-kira pukul 12 tengah hari. “Serbuan itu turut merampas sebanyak 13 telefon bimbit termasuk 12 daripadanya adalah merupakan iPhone. Menurut Hussein, kumpulan itu diketuai wanita Vietnam berusia 40-an manakala lelaki Jordan berperanan sebagai ‘transporter’ yang membawa ahli kumpulan ke lokasi sasaran.
