As seen in the video, the man appeared to be talking to another individual inside the hotel room while he casually walked out in public view, facing the main road without a stitch of clothing.
According to Harian Metro, the incident was reported to have occurred last Tuesday and the tourist, who was said to be from China, has been arrested for public indecency. The Police Chief of Semporna District Police, Superintendent Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah, told the media that the suspect is being remanded under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code until 12th June .
“The man’s actions were recorded by a member of the public passing by the hotel before the video spread on social media,” he said in a statement. It was also reported that anyone who happened to witness and recorded the incident was advised to come forward to a nearby police station to help with the investigation. If found guilty, the foreigner will receive three months imprisonment or a fine or both.In relation to this arrest, local authorities have put out a stern reminder to tourists to obey the laws and regulations of the country they’re visiting.
