PETALING JAYA: Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong staged a superb comeback by saving five match points to beat South Korea's Choi Sol-gyu-Seo Seung-jae 21-19,15-21,23-21 to clinch the Taiwan Open title Sunday (Sept 8).
The world No. 15 Malaysians were trailing for nearly the entire deciding game before finding themselves on the brink of defeat at 16-20.
But V Shem-Wee Kiong fought back brilliantly to save the first four match points and level the contest. Although the world No. 18 Koreans got back into the lead again at 21-20, the pumped-up V Shem-Wee Kiong denied them for the fifth time before claiming the next two points to complete the remarkable turnaround.
The victory was V Shem-Wee Kiong's second on the World Tour victory this season having captured the Thailand Masters in January.
