U Mobile's founder Vincent Tan expressed confidence that the company can launch its own 5G network without relying on government funding or new local partnerships. He revealed plans for a rollout within 15 to 18 months and an aim to go public on Bursa Malaysia by the end of this year. While some analysts predict challenges due to U Mobile's size and financial standing, Tan stated that the company has secured sufficient loans and plans to collaborate with Chinese telecom suppliers like Huawei and ZTE for 5G equipment and financing. He shared that U Mobile recorded a revenue of RM3.5 billion in 2023 and its total assets stood at RM6.2 billion.
