PETALING JAYA: The tabling of the 12th Malaysia Plan (RMK-12) has been postponed to early next year due to changes in the economic landscape, such as an increase in the forecast fiscal deficit, says Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed.
PETALING JAYA: The tabling of the 12th Malaysia Plan has been postponed to early next year due to changes in the economic landscape, such as an increase in the forecast fiscal deficit, says Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed .
"Firstly, the Perikatan Nasional Cabinet was only formed in March. The ministers are also new and the ministries were restructured. The vision of Perikatan is also different from the previous administration. He was responding to a question by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on the factors that led to deferment of the tabling of the RMK-12 to next year.
"The economic landscape of Malaysia and of the world has changed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, such as digital economy is now playing a bigger role, and the tourism industry and SMEs will need more time to recover, and food security will need to be given more attention.
