SEREMBAN: The government needs to come up with effective strategies to help rural folk who have been adversely affected by the Covid-19 outbreak, including giving incentives to Felda to further develop its assets, says Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.
The Umno deputy president said Felda, which has many land schemes all over the country, must be allowed to look into the possibility of growing other crops and to venture into livestock farming, as this will help rejuvenate the rural economy."Give the agency incentives to do more which include venturing into other areas such as livestock farming which has plenty of potential and can reduce our dependence on imports," he said in a statement.
He said since they could not move to urban areas in search of jobs due to the weak economy, they should be given skills training related to the rural economy.
