Three cooking oil and diesel suppliers in Malaysia were fined RM10,000 each for possessing controlled items without licenses.

Three cooking oil and diesel suppliers were each fined RM10,000 by the Sessions Court here today after pleading guilty to possessing controlled items without valid licenses in 2023. Judge Zulkifli Abdullah imposed the sentence on Zamri Mat Daud, 51, Muhammad Baharuddin Sukri, 31, and Muhammad Affizan Fauzi, 30. The charges were brought separately. Zamri was charged with possessing 408 kilograms of cooking oil in a suspicious manner at Pengkalan Haram Paija, Pengkalan Kubor, Tumpat at 7.

30 am on June 17, 2023. Meanwhile, Muhammad Baharuddin was charged with possessing 1,002.26 liters of diesel on the roadside at the Pasar Raya Salamku Pasir Pekan traffic lights, Jalan Pasir Pekan-Kutan, Tumpat at 6.55 am on November 16, 2023. Muhammad Affizan was accused of possessing the same item, amounting to 1,328.535 liters, at Lorong Maut, Kampung Neting, Pengkalan Kubor, Tumpat at 8 pm on November 11, 2023. All three were charged under Regulation 3(1) of the Control of Supplies Regulations 1974. The prosecution was conducted under Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961, which is punishable under Section 22(1) of the same Act, which provides a maximum fine of RM1 million or imprisonment for up to three years, or both, if found guilty. The charges were handled by prosecutors from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, Muhammadi Iman Masjuri and Wan Mohd Razif Wan Ghazali, while all three accused were represented by lawyers Muhammad Zulfaqar Al Basysyar Saharuddin and Mohd Taufikrullah Rusli.
