Malaysia's Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, announced the merging of three Cabinet committees under the Ministry of Health (KKM) into a single National Health Cabinet Committee. The decision was made at a Cabinet Committee meeting to address dengue fever. The three committees involved were the Cabinet Committee on Dengue, the National Health Malaysia Agenda (ANMS) Cabinet Committee, and the Special Committee to Tackle the Problem of Malnutrition Among Children. The new committee will meet three times a year.

“Jawatankuasa ini dikenali sebagai Jawatankuasa Kabinet Kesihatan Nasional yang akan sebanyak tiga kali setahun,” katanya dalam satu kenyataan hari ini. “Kini, purata kes mingguan telah menurun dengan ketara kepada kira-kira 1,200 hingga 1,500 kes sahaja setiap minggu dan berada di bawah paras median lima tahun,” katanya.
Bagi memperkukuh pelaksanaan langkah pencegahan dan kawalan denggi, Ahmad Zahid berkata semua kementerian, jabatan, agensi perlu memperkukuh inisiatif sedia ada serta mewujudkan inisiatif baharu berdasarkan kesesuaian melalui pendekatan Whole of Nation.
