A 14-year-old girl denied stabbing her aunt in a domestic dispute in Bukit Mertajam, Penang. The teenager faces up to 10 years imprisonment for the charge under Section 324 of the Penal Code.
A teenage girl pleaded not guilty at a Magistrate's Court in Bukit Mertajam for stabbing her aunt on Friday (Jan 3). The 14-year-old entered the plea after the charges were read out to her by a court interpreter before Magistrate Mohd Harith Mohd Mazlan. The accused nodded as an indication of understanding the charge that was read to her and claimed trial. According to the charge sheet, the teenager is accused of intentionally causing injury to her aunt using a knife.
She was charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with the use of a dangerous weapon or means. She faces imprisonment of up to 10 years in prison, a fine, whipping, or any two of the three punishments. Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Zulfadzly Hassan prosecuted while the accused was represented by Muhaimin Hashim.
