A nationwide 'Weather Advisory' is in place for Storm Ciaran. Met Eireann has warned of heavy spells of rain and flooding.
Met Eireann has put the entire country on alert for Storm Ciaran as it passes Ireland's south coast tonight.
"Later Wednesday and on Thursday, further rainfall associated with Storm Ciaran may lead to flooding. Additional Impacts include poor visibility and difficult/dangerous driving conditions."It is likely that the heaviest rain will be in southern and eastern coastal counties, with a Status Yellow weather warning issued for six areas.
Ireland is expected to avoid the worst of the storm, with parts of the UK on alert for it to make landfall there tomorrow. Two amber wind warnings, the second highest level of alert, are in place for parts of the south coast of England for when Storm Ciaran hits on Thursday, together with further yellow rain warnings, a lower level which means some disruption could be on the way.
