Multiple Status Yellow Met Eireann weather warnings are in place for Galway, Clare, Kerry, Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow, Cork and Waterford
Parts of the country are braced for flooding and travel disruption as the third storm of the season - after Agnes and Babet - hits.
A Met Eireann spokesperson said: "Further rainfall associated with Storm Ciarán, combined with saturated ground conditions and high river levels, may lead to flooding." You should also take special care when driving behind goods vehicles, as they generate a considerable amount of spray, which reduces your visibility. Hold back to where you can see their mirrors.The storm is set to track to the south of Ireland tonight and Thursday, as it passes the country it will bring a spell of very wet and windy weather, with heavy rainfall in places leading to flooding.
Meanwhile, the rain alert for all six counties in Northern Ireland that became active at 9pm on Tuesday lifted at 9am. A weather advisory is currently in place for the entire country since Sunday and will remain in place until Thursday.
