STATUS 200, a charity project undertaken by Octa broker in collaboration with Ideas International, was a transformative bootcamp held in Kuala Lumpur from April to November 2024. The program, designed to equip Malaysian students with in-demand programming skills, spanned three intensive stages, each culminating in challenging assignments.
While many participants were unable to complete the full program, 12 dedicated students emerged as successful graduates, now poised to embark on a variety of exciting career paths. The STATUS 200 bootcamp prioritized a rigorous, fast-paced learning environment from the outset. This approach ensured that each student was adequately prepared to tackle the demanding project work assigned after Stages 2 and 3. The curriculum blended theoretical computer science concepts with practical coding workshops, providing a comprehensive foundation for future success. Twelve students successfully achieved Stage 2 certification and progressed to Stage 3, where they demonstrated exceptional skills and dedication. The culminating assignment required each graduate to develop a fully functional e-commerce website from scratch, showcasing their proficiency in web development and earning them the equivalent skill level of a junior web developer. The impact of STATUS 200 extends beyond formal employment opportunities. Several graduates have taken on freelance web development projects, leveraging their newly acquired skills to earn income and gain valuable real-world experience. One graduate, who had no prior teaching experience, transitioned into a coding instructor, sharing their knowledge and inspiring future generations. Another graduate received a glowing recommendation from the bootcamp instructors, which played a pivotal role in securing a prestigious computer science scholarship in Australia. The eligibility for this scholarship was solely based on their bootcamp performance, highlighting the transformative power of the program. Furthermore, the skills learned during the bootcamp are highly transferable to other fields of study, setting the stage for long-term career success in various industries
