The Perlis state Community Development Department (Kemas) aims to assist 200 entrepreneurs and small business owners this year through the Income Enhancement Program (PPP) under the Ministry of Rural Development and Regional Areas (KKDW). This initiative seeks to benefit a wider range of individuals in increasing their income and starting businesses for those from underprivileged backgrounds.

Datuk Rozabil Abd Rahman, Chairman of the Kemas state Activities Committee, stated that this program also encourages newly established businesses from non-Bumiputera communities in the state to apply. \He emphasized that the PPP program provides opportunities for all citizens, particularly those in the B40 group in Perlis, regardless of their race, religion, or political affiliation, to engage in small-scale businesses. Rozabil expressed his belief that the allocation for Perlis under this program will be higher this year, adding that he has made requests for increased funding due to the high number of people in the state who operate small businesses. \During a ceremony at the UMNO Division Arau Office, 75 applicants from the previous year were selected to receive business equipment grants. Rozabil elaborated that recipients will receive equipment worth up to RM10,000, covering various sectors such as services, manufacturing, and automotive and motorcycle workshops. He highlighted that this is a pilot project, and the program will be expanded to include all of Perlis, from Padang Besar, Kangar, and Arau, in the future. Rozabil, who is also the UMNO Division Arau Chief, emphasized that the selection criteria for recipients include those who are newly starting businesses under the B40 group. He stated that applications will be screened by the KKDW without considering the applicant's background or political views. He also assured that the progress of the recipients will be monitored to ensure that the provided facilities are not misused.
