A 45-year-old Malaysian Volunteer Department member pleaded not guilty to three charges of incest with his stepdaughters in 2019 and 2024.
A 45-year-old member of the Malaysian Volunteer Department (RELA) pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court today to three charges of committing incest with his stepdaughter in 2019 and 2024. The man made the plea after the charges were read to him before Judge Norma Ismail. According to the separate charges, the accused had committed incest with his 16 and 21-year-old stepdaughter during the incidents, which were relationships prohibited by law or religious law to marry.
The offences were committed in mid-2019, mid-November, and on December 6, 2024, at two separate locations, namely a house in Tampin and a rented room in Tampin. The accused was charged under Section 376B (1) of the Penal Code which carries a maximum sentence of 30 years imprisonment and caning. Deputy Public Prosecutor Goh Hsiao Tung did not offer bail as both the victim and the accused reside at the same address. The judge then did not allow bail to be granted to the accused and set February 12 for the case mention. The accused was unrepresented by a lawyer
