A 26-year-old lorry driver in Melaka pleaded not guilty to charges of dangerous driving that led to the deaths of two 16-year-old boys on Christmas Eve last year.
A lorry driver, S. Vinudharan, pleaded not guilty at the Ayer Keroh Magistrate’s Court in Melaka to charges of dangerous driving that resulted in the deaths of two 16-year-old boys, Erwan Idris and Putra Norsyaqir Putrawirawan, on Christmas Eve last year. The accident occurred at 9.53 pm on Jalan Krubong Permai, Melaka Tengah.
Vinudharan faces charges under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 (Amendment 1999), which carries a jail sentence of not less than five years and a maximum of 10 years, and a fine of not less than RM20,000 and not more than RM50,000. If convicted, he will also be disqualified from holding a driving licence for at least five years. The court set bail at RM6,500 with one surety and set January 27 as the date for the mention of the case and submission of documents
