Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing berkata kementeriannya dilihat mengutamakan pelancong China.
: Isu politik dan perkauman tidak seharusnya dikaitkan dalam usaha kerajaan mempromosikan industri pelancongan sebaliknya memberi tumpuan untuk merancakkan ekonomi negara.
Beliau menegaskan Kementerian Pelancongan, Seni dan Budaya tidak mahu campur politik dan agama dalam usaha menarik pelancong, sebaliknya fokus lebih kepada mewujudkan peluang perniagaan kepada rakyat dan memacu ekonomi negara. Beliau berkata untuk bersaing dengan negara jiran seperti Thailand yang lebih menarik kepada pelancong, semua pihak harus beri fokus kepada langkah menjadikan Malaysia sebagai destinasi menarik dan bukannya mengutuk pelancong terutama dari China.
Beliau sekali lagi menegaskan tiada salah dalam mempromosi dwibahasa dalam papan tanda perniagaan, namun setuju undang-undang perlu dipatuhi semua, tetapi cara penguatkuasaan itu dianggap memberi tanggapan buruk kepada penduduk setempat dan pelancong.
