The crisis surrounding the election of Pakatan Harapan (PH) Sabah chairman is far from over. While newly elected President of Parti Kinabalu Progresif Bersatu (UPKO), Datuk Ewon Benedick, requested a two-year term, PKR expressed dissent. PKR Sabah's Secretary of the State Leadership Council, Sazayle Donol Abdullah, stated that PKR maintains its stance against UPKO leading PH Sabah due to their recent joining of the coalition. He argued that UPKO, being a smaller party, should not be given the position. The decision regarding the PH Sabah chairman will ultimately be made by the PH central leadership. However, PKR insists that the position is historically allocated to them. Despite Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe, the DAP Sabah chairman, stating that there is no quota system for the PH Sabah chairman election, he acknowledges that it is a personal opinion. Phoong, who is also the Kota Marudu PKR branch chief, suggested a transparent election involving all PH members to ensure fairness.
Biarpun Presiden Pertubuhan Kinabalu Progresif Bersatu , Datuk Ewon Benedick yang dipilih sebagai pengerusi baharu meminta diberikan tempoh selama dua tahun untuk menerajui kepimpinan PH Sabah , namun PKR mempunyai pandangan yang berbeza.
“UPKO baru masuk kelmarin , macam mana mahu jadi Pengerusi. Kalau dia lama, tidak apa, ini masih baharu. Kalau DAP masih boleh, UPKO ini baharu. Sazayle berkata, isu berkaitan pemilihan Pengerusi PH Sabah ini akan diputuskan oleh Pengerusi PH pusat. Walaupun Pengerusi DAP Sabah, Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe menyatakan tidak wujud kuota dalam pemilihan Pengerusi PH, namun, katanya, itu sekadar pandangan peribadi.
