TUMPAT: Phase 1 of the Sungai Kelantan Integrated River Basin Development project (PLSB) is expected to be completed by Oct 17, says Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.

The Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change Minister said the project, implemented since 2018, involved an allocation of RM699mil.

"The implementation of PLSB Phase 2, involving an allocation of RM1.06bil in September is expected to be completed in 2028,” he said.Nik Nazmi said through the implementation of PLSB Phases 1 and 2, an area of ​​63,000ha of flood-prone areas involving 130,700 residents, especially in the Sungai Kelantan river basin such as in Kota Baru and Tumpat will be protected from the risk of flooding.

"The scope of the project includes flood mitigation components, rivers, environmentally friendly drainage and the National Water Balance System ," he said.
