GUA MUSANG: The Kelantan government is expected to receive an allocation of RM1.7bil to address water supply issues in the state, says Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah. The Deputy Mentri Besar said Kelantan had initially asked for an allocation of RM8bil from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Astro Awani reported. Mohd Amar said the request was studied and the Federal government had agreed to allocate RM1.7bil initially. He also told Astro Awani that a special committee would be set up involving the state government and the Finance Ministry. 'As a result of a meeting with the Prime Minister, a special committee was set up and had its first meeting two days ago (on June 13),' Mohd Amar told Astro Awani at an event in Felda Chiku 2, here, on Thursday (June 15). Earlier, Anwar had said that the RM8bil request from Kelantan had been turned down as the government needed to study the matter to find out the state's specific needs.
