Perlis, a state bordering Thailand, sees a significant influx of tourists during the school holidays and Chinese New Year. Popular destinations, including natural attractions, are bustling with visitors, contributing to the success of the Perlis Tourism Year 2024/2025.

Kangar: As Thailand's tourism flourishes, its neighboring state, Perlis, also experiences a surge in visitors coinciding with the school holiday season and Chinese New Year. Popular destinations such as Padang Besar, Kuala Perlis, Gua Kelam, View Point Wang Kelian, Timah Tasoh, Kampung Warna-Warni Seberang Ramai, alongside barbecue seafood restaurants in Kuala Perlis and other eateries, are teeming with tourists.

These attractions offer natural beauty, including the Kampung Wai canal and the lush paddy fields, making them popular healing destinations in Perlis. Notably, during this school holiday season, bookings at most guesthouses and hotels in the state are fully occupied, further boosting the Perlis Tourism Year (TMPs) 2024/2025, which is entering its final year with a target of five million visitors. The state Tourism Committee Chairman, Abu Bakar Hamzah, stated that an estimated 100,000 tourists are expected to visit Perlis during this school holiday season and Chinese New Year. He said that since yesterday and anticipated to continue until Sunday, tourist locations, particularly in Kuala Perlis, Padang Besar, and those showcasing natural beauty, are experiencing a high influx of visitors. Locations like View Point Wang Kelian and Padang Besar have been packed with tourists from early morning until evening.“This trend is expected to continue as Perlis is packed with tourism activities throughout the year. In February, there are many major events, such as the East Wind Festival and the International Kite Fiesta at Dataran Lok 9, Kuala Perlis. “The presence of tourists provides a substantial economic boost to traders and guesthouse owners,” he told Utusan Malaysia here yesterday.A tourist from Kuala Lumpur, Anuar Ismail, 39, chose Perlis for his family vacation to experience the tranquility and beauty of its diverse attractions, particularly its natural landscapes. - UTUSAN
