KOTA KINABALU: Sabah has 26 MPs, including Labuan, and nearly all of them are expected to support any coalition government of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Several of them are said to have signed or to be signing the statutory declaration for Dr Mahathir to stay the full term.
Sabah Umno’s two MPs – Datuk Bung Moktar Radin and Datuk Mohamad Alamin – are believed to have signed the declaration. Three other opposition party leaders – Sabah STAR president Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan , Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah deputy president Arthur Kurup and Parti Bersatu Sabah president Datuk Seri Maximus Ongkili – are considering signing it.
Nine MPs under the ruling Parti Warisan Sabah, which is Pakatan Harapan-friendly and led by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, are closely watching the latest political developments that might see a national coalition realignment, said to consist of Dr Mahathir’s Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia, Umno, PAS, and possibly defectors from PKR and DAP.
