A man narrowly escaped injury after his pickup truck was carried away by strong currents in Kota Marudu, Sabah. He managed to climb onto the roof of his vehicle and was rescued by firefighters.
A man in his 30s had a terrifying experience when his pickup truck was swept away by strong water currents while crossing a concrete bridge at Kampung Sungai Simpangan in Kota Marudu on Friday evening. Fortunately, his vehicle got stuck between a rock, allowing him to climb onto the roof. Kota Marudu fire and rescue station chief Mohd Hasbi Hajat said his department received the emergency call at 5.20pm and immediately deployed a team.
Upon arrival, they saw the four-wheel-drive vehicle stuck between rocks in the middle of the river with the man on the roof. Once rescued and taken to the riverbank, he received treatment from Emergency Medical Rescue Services personnel and sustained only minor injuries. The operation ended without incident at 6.08pm
