A 44-year-old man was arrested by the PGA in Kelantan for smuggling 3,000 black thorn durian seedlings from Thailand. The seedlings were believed to be destined for a plantation in Perak and are suspected of carrying pests and diseases.

A 44-year-old man acting as a 'transporter' was arrested by the General Operations Force ( PGA ) during Op Taring Wawasan Kelantan after carrying 3,000 black thorn durian seedlings illegally from Kampung Parit Air yesterday. The man was apprehended at 10:30 am after PGA members noticed a suspicious-looking truck. Brigadier General Tenggera Datuk Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab.

Hamid said that the inspection of the truck led to the discovery of 3,000 black thorn durian seedlings believed to have been smuggled from Thailand. According to him, all the seedlings were going to be delivered to a plantation in Perak. 'These seedlings are suspected of having pests and diseases,' he said. 'The total value of the seizure is RM900,000. All the seized items, including the suspect, have been taken to the Rantau Panjang Police Station for further action,' he said when contacted here today. Nik Ros Azhan said that the case is being investigated under the Plant Quarantine Act 1976 (Act 167) Section 5
