The Malaysian Indian Skills Initiative (MISI) continues to empower the nation's workforce by equipping lorry drivers with specialized training through a comprehensive Dangerous Goods (DG) certification program. This initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA) through the Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp), aims to address the high demand for skilled professionals in the logistics sector.

The Malaysian Indian Skills Initiative (MISI) is continuing its efforts to bolster the national workforce by providing specialized training to lorry drivers through the Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) – Dangerous Goods (DG) Integrated Truck Driver Training program in Klang, Selangor.

This intensive, three-day training, which commenced yesterday, is being organized by the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA) in collaboration with the Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp). The encouraging turnout for the program speaks volumes about the high demand for specialized skills within the logistics sector. In a statement, HRD Corp emphasized that the program, officially launched by Batu MP P Prabakaran, underscores the government's dedication to upskilling and empowering Malaysia's Indian community. The DG certification acquired through this program will empower lorry drivers in this category to access higher salaries and more promising job opportunities. The rigorous, three-day training equips participants with valuable skills that provide them with a competitive edge in the job market. Graduates of this program can also explore entrepreneurial ventures and qualify for management roles. Moreover, the training supports ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) compliance and international safety standards, ensuring its continued relevance to the evolving needs of the industry.Prabakaran, in his statement, highlighted that this integrated DG training represents a significant milestone in equipping lorry drivers with the necessary certifications and skills to advance their careers. V. Kalaiselvan, a 29-year-old participant who had been actively seeking employment for over six months, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity provided by the MISI program. He shared that the training has instilled in him renewed hope for his future. D. Devandran, a 38-year-old participant from Ipoh, Perak, echoed Kalaiselvan's sentiments. He had spent the past three years in the gig economy, which he found lacking in career growth potential. Devandran expressed his belief that the training will provide him with the opportunity to increase his earnings and advance his career into management roles. MISI, spearheaded by KESUMA in collaboration with HRD Corp, has successfully engaged over 3,000 participants in high-demand fields, such as Artificial Intelligence and smart farming. These initiatives align with the industry's growing need for future-ready skills. Beyond creating job opportunities, the program also fosters entrepreneurship, promotes a culture of lifelong learning, and paves the way for career advancement within the Malaysian workforce
