Six Malaysian Customs officers previously detained for their alleged involvement in a vape smuggling and tax evasion syndicate have been transferred to non-critical departments. The officers are no longer assigned to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) pending the conclusion of the investigation. The Director-General of Customs, Datuk Anis Rizana Mohd Zainudin, emphasized that the Customs Department will not compromise or protect any officers involved in misconduct, integrity violations, or corruption. The announcement follows the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's (SPRM) successful dismantling of a vape smuggling syndicate at KLIA's Cargo Center, resulting in the arrest of 14 individuals, including six customs officers, for their suspected involvement in the operation.
