The Malaysian government is considering allowing UNHCR card holders, who are currently barred from working and formal education, to seek legal employment in the country. This move aims to address labor shortages and provide economic opportunities to registered refugees. However, the government emphasizes that all refugees and asylum seekers in Malaysia must register with the government before this permission is granted.
