Malaysia's unemployment rate hit its lowest point in nearly a decade, reaching 3.1% in December 2024, according to the Department of Statistics. The department's chief statistician, Datuk Seri Dr. Mohd Uzir Mahidin, attributed the decline to the country's robust economic growth and resilience, which supported job development and reduced unemployment. The number of employed individuals also showed a positive trend, totaling 16.78 million in December 2024, an increase of 0.2% compared to November.
PETALING JAYA: Kadar pengangguran Malaysia pada Disember 2024 mencecah kadar terendah sejak hampir 10 tahun iaitu 3.1 peratus dengan 544,300 penganggur, kata Jabatan Perangkaan.
“Ini sekali gus merekodkan kadar penyertaan tenaga buruh yang lebih tinggi iaitu 70.6 peratus berbanding 70.5 peratus pada bulan yang lalu,” katanya dalam kenyataan. “Kadar pengangguran bagi belia berumur 15 hingga 24 tahun turun sebanyak 0.1 mata peratus kepada 10.3 peratus, merekodkan 299,700 penganggur belia pada bulan Disember 2024 ,” jelasnya.
“Sementara itu, sembilan negeri mencatatkan peningkatan dalam KPTB, menunjukkan lebih banyak penyertaan buruh dalam pasaran. Selangor merekodkan KPTB yang tertinggi iaitu pada 76.4 peratus, diikuti oleh Kuala Lumpur dan Pulau Pinang ,” katanya.
