Severe flooding in Malaysia, particularly in the East Coast states like Kelantan and Terengganu, is causing significant concern. The heavy rainfall is affecting residents' lives, especially with the ongoing Sijil Peperiksaan Malaysia (SPM). Additionally, a sudden flash flood in Fair Park, Ipoh, on December 1st, noted for its murky and oily waters, has drawn public attention. This marks the first occurrence in 28 years for residents in the area.

Penduduk menyifatkan kejadian itu merupakan kali pertama berlaku sepanjang tempoh 28 tahun menetap di situ. Kediaman Sukar Dibersihkan Akibat Tompokan Minyak Terbaharu, penduduk Persiaran 10 Arena Kepayang Putra, Fair Park mendedahkan mereka berhadapan dengan kesukaran mencuci kediaman akibat tompokan minyak yang dibawa oleh air banjir tempoh hari.
“Sampah yang dibawa oleh banjir itu biasa, namun banjir kali ini kesan minyak masih tinggal dengan sangat ketara biarpun kesan lumpur sudah dibersihkan. “Pada jam 5 petang air sudah naik tinggi. Tidak timbul rasa jijik walaupun terpaksa meredah air banjir bercampur minyak sebab saya lebih fokus memikirkan keselamatan anak-anak dan redah banjir untuk berpindah.
Dia yang merupakan seorang suri rumah menjelaskan air banjir pada ketika itu dilihat sangat kotor dengan kesan minyak dan sampah yang terapung.
