Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd (MRL) has clarified that not all flooding areas along the East Coast Rail (EC) project are due to the EC project. MRL has emphasized its commitment to ensuring construction does not disrupt existing water flows and has undertaken mitigation measures to reduce flood risks. MRL states that it will take responsibility for any damage if it is proven to be due to the EC project.

“Sejak dari awal pembinaan projek, MRL telah mengenal pasti tempat-tempat yang terlibat dengan banjir di sepanjang jajaran sekali gus langkah awalan telah diambil,“ menurut kenyataan itu. “Oleh itu, MRL telah mencadangkan reka bentuk optimum dengan mengambil kira aspek teknikal, nilai kejuruteraan dan risiko banjir di kawasan tertentu sepanjang jajaran.
