The National AI Office is focused on developing AI solutions across five sectors: transport, health, agriculture, SMEs, and government digital services. Meanwhile, Malaysia has become the first Asean nation to launch 5G Advanced, a new generation of 5G network promising enhanced capabilities and performance.

The National AI Office in Malaysia is actively pursuing the development of AI solutions across five key sectors: transport, health, agriculture, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and government digital services. Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo emphasized the urgency of implementing AI-driven solutions to address pressing problems within these sectors.

He stated that the National AI Office has been tasked with identifying specific challenges in each sector and developing AI-based solutions within a three-month timeframe. 'We need to move a lot faster. We need to start delivering in-term solutions that deal with problems in all sectors,' Gobind Singh Deo asserted during his keynote address at the launch of 5G Advanced in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday. He further explained that the National AI Office is collaborating with all ministries to pinpoint the areas where AI can make the most significant impact. 'We are creating centers of excellence in the ministries themselves, run by officials from the ministries, and headed by the ministers themselves,' he added. In a separate announcement, Gobind Singh Deo highlighted Malaysia's pioneering role as the first Asean nation to launch 5G Advanced, a next-generation 5G network. Digital Nasional Berhad CEO Datuk Azman Ismail elaborated that 5G Advanced builds upon the existing 5G infrastructure, delivering enhanced capabilities and performance. He emphasized the network's superior reliability and reduced latency, crucial for applications demanding real-time responses. Azman Ismail also noted the integration of AI and Machine Learning into 5G Advanced, enabling smarter network management. This advanced network is poised to support more demanding applications, including extended reality (XR), augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and high-definition video streaming.
